The Faculty operates a layered financial-aid system. Most South African applicants are eligible for one or more of the following. All applications are means-tested and confidential.
Full-tuition bursary for MBChB applicants from a rural Karoo district, with a return-of-service commitment of three years in a district hospital after community service. Open to first-generation university applicants on a sliding household-income scale.
Full tuition, accommodation, books and stipend for 24 MBChB and postgraduate scholars per year, drawn from underrepresented backgrounds across Africa.
The full National Student Financial Aid Scheme pipeline is supported. The Western Cape Department of Health additionally funds a registrar-bursary track for specialist trainees.
Full studentship covering tuition, stipend and travel for early-career investigators from elsewhere on the continent enrolling in our MSc (Med) and PhD pathways.
